Is Your Idea of EFFECT and CE Really Important?

Luke, one of the things we talked about in preparing for today's show is your idea of effectiveness and that's EFFECT and CE. Explain the concept and kind of the history behind it and how that is kind of key to some of the stuff you're doing. Luke: Effectance was coined by Robert White at Harvard University in the 1960s in response to Freudianism and other psychological motivation that weren't up to the task. And what he noticed was that people and children in particular they have this inherent motivation to develop competence. He later learned that it's a very big dimension of variation, because it's it's effortful.
