C S and Bonaparte's 'Coup of 18'

Coup of 18 brumer doesn't quite get napoleon all the way into power. He's one of three provisional consuls, sure, but c s obviously believes that he is going to be the dominant personality the new government. Bonaparte was able to exploit the fact that the couve brumer would not have been possible without armed intervention from the army. Because that army was loyal to bonaparte, napoleon wound up playing a superactive role in the writing of the constitution of year eight.
