What Is Inflation?
I think at the crux of this is inflation and trying to understand what is inflation, what drove inflation, and then trying to use those inputs to forecast future inflation. So I think a lot of times people confuse inflation with prices. Inflation is not an absolute price gauge. For inflation to moderate, you do not need prices to moderate. Prices are not going to moderate. And so inflation is going to be like structures. We don't need prices to come down. We just need them to stop going up. And then inflation goes to zero. If you get even prices to tick down off the very pico top, that's actually deflation.
