A study looked into the stereotypical gay voice and what this person found. The similarities between gay men's voices, wasn't necessarily the pitch or melodious aspect of it. A more contemporary pan-American accent was adopted by the gay people in this study. And that's how that was picked up. So I just feel like a lot of like, gay lingo comes from like African-American, vernacular English that kind of started in America in like gay ballroom scene.
