The Miracle Staircase
Engineers can't see inside the stairway to see how it was assembled, but it's light framed wood construction probably would not meet today's building codes. Rafe Jones with Chavano architectural millwork in Montrose, Colorado said he saw a French influence, but was deferential in miracles. The current group of 21st century stair builders were extremely impressed, but they didn't think that the staircase was displaying supernatural qualities we couldn't reproduce today.

A group of nuns in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the late 1800s needed a special staircase built for their chapel, so they prayed a novena and a mysterious workman came and built it. Jimmy Akin and Dom Bettinelli discuss what makes the spiral staircase special, who built it, and whether it could have been St. Joseph himself.
