For ordinary South Korean men, it's actually a bit more grave in the sense that they have come up through an education system that's extremely competitive. A large number of school leavers go to university and the graduate job market is incredibly tough. Service is often done midway through their time at university or early in their careers. But having outlined all of the negatives, there must be some positives. You get that esprit de corps, you get that sense of loyalty. There's got to be an upside here. Absolutely.
