Microsoft researcher: Goals are the best shield that we have against distractions. By getting people to identify their goals at the beginning of the day, they stayed on track significantly better. But this effect just lasts for a short period and it's important to continually reinstate your goals throughout the day. You can write your goals on a post-it. Set yourself a reminder, whatever it is, that will enable you to keep reminding and becoming aware of what your goals are.
