The Divorce of a Daughter

I don't remember when your parents sat you down and said, not only are we getting divorced but we're going to switch with this couple. I think my step-father missed his own daughters terribly but he was also a very hard man. One problem that was actually one of the central parts for me was that I was sort of able to and very much wanted to take her place in his eyes and please him. So I did that which led to a great deal of guilt because he enjoyed having a substitute little girl who would act clever and so on. It's a desperation.
