It was a very complacent age, as you said, full of hubris. Jack the Ripper gave birth to the 20th century because it woke the society up. Titanic was two years before the First World War started. It was also one year, in fact, before income tax and the Federal Reserve were introduced. And that sort of leads us into that sort of second half of the last century, which was all about questioning what it's all about. You know, mainstream news resembles a kind of comedy show, like a bad comedy show.
