The Power of Elemental Spirits

When we hear stories in the ancient world or even biblical stories of curses, we superimpose our materialist worldview that there's no spiritual element to the world. And so, you know, we just superimpose this worldview and we go, oh, curses, those are just superstition. The point of the story is actually not that curses are meaningless. It's that it's actually presupposes the power of calling down the wrath of God on a people.
