The Effects of Religious Abuse on Child Development
Some believe Augusta Bates suffered from some mental illness and the word schizophrenia was thrown out in a couple of sources. We do know that she was fanatically religious and detested her husband for his sinful addiction to alcohol. She also demanded her sons be completely socially isolated, saved going to school of course. Lack of socialization literally impacts the development of the brain's whole structure. It creates an issue with communication within the brain cells in the prefrontal cortex.
