Historically Catholicism developed in late antiquity. It's a pluralistic hodgepodge pretending to be a unique, sui-generous, pure discourse. In 361 CE Julian declared a policy of universal religious toleration within the Roman Empire. He forbade Christians from participating in the educational establishment from the cultural production of Hellenism.
