I used to like to say, if you investigated, for example, at promotion time, people would say, well, you know, shirley hasn't written a ten page paper this year. Well, the fact that it had to do with the number of pages drove me nots. Why couldn't you just produce that analytic judgment in one paragraph? It's absurd. So, yes, we were in this ah period, and i think there's been a lot of progress. And i think part part of the concern is understandable.
