Anton: It's so important to take a good history for the hand injury, just like it is with chest pain and every other patient we see in the emergency department. Lacerations are one common presentation; I want to know what kutcher? How'd you cut yourself? What's the risk of foreign material still in the wound? Ceramics, metal, wood, is there organic material left in there? And then pushing yourself to think cognizant of what the risks are in terms of medical legal liability With hands and feet, frankly, one of the big ones is retained foreign bodies.
