Elephant Seal Sleep Patterns

The study was done with a group of elephant seals. It looked at their sleep patterns and what they were doing in the water. The researchers used motion sensors to piece together this information. They found that when an animal is sleeping, it can go into slow wave sleep while still looking like it's awake. And then as you transition to REM sleep, they're flipping upside down.
