The Historical Materialist Brushes History Against the Grain

The historical materialist is not content to just accept the narrative that is bestowed upon them through the annals of bourgeois culture. Instead, they look at them with horror because they acknowledge that these treasures were acquired through violence. And as he writes about this, he says that there is no document of culture which is not at the same time a document of barbarism,. That is one that depended upon violence. So the historical materialist brushes history against the grain.
