Netanyahu was secular, and Netanyahu was intelligent, and Netanyahu's designed. He currently finds himself at the head of a government that is in the view of many Israelis, none of those things, including not Zionist. By insisting on melding the West Bank in a way that is irreversible via uncontrolled settlement to Israel, that creates a binational state. There will either not be a Jewish state or will not be democratic because of the third of the population of Palestinians who won't be able to vote.
