The Importance of Branding in Public Life

The last thing an intelligent and self-respecting member of a democratic community should do is to reward any public man because he says that he will get the private citizen something. The same principle which applies in private life applies also in public life. I believe that a man must be a good patriot before he can be, and as the only possible way of being, a good citizen of the world. So far from patriotism being inconsistent with proper regard for other nations, I hold that the true patriot is as jealous of his own national rights as anyone else.
