Anthony Pelicano was a private investigator working for Michael Jackson. Within 24 hours of the investigation breaking in the news, Pelicano appeared in a press conference on Michael's behalf. He declared that his client was the victim of an extortion scheme. One of 25 or 30 such attempts that according to Pelicano, Michael dealt with every year.
