What Has Babylon Got to Do With Western Astrology?

The Decans are constellations thought each to occupy 10 degrees of the 360 degree night sky. They have a long history in astrology, and will be encountering them again next week. But aside from this short Egyptian interlude, we seem to have been going on about Babylon again. What has Babylon got to do with Western esotericism? Well, scholars pretty much agree that the Babylonians did the hard work of inventing both astronomy and astrology. The heavens move cyclically and the whole thing repeats itself if you wait long enough.
