We can choose to use technology to help people engage in meaningful work, while automating the tasks better suited to machines. Or we can allow robots and a i to run rough shot across the labor market, displacing workers and creating greater precarity in the name of growth. Time will tell if thecanadian government decides to take the bold move to implement national basic income as a response to the pendemic. But it better act fast. The future will be here before we know it, and with it a new set of challenges and technological advances that will continue to transform how we work and live
