Is It a War of Idea, Logic, or Something Like That?
When it's an economic calculation, when it's no longer profitable, you just don't do it. But with a war of ideologyi's, it's like nobody knows when to cut things loose. And so there's a fervency to the war that wasn't necessarily there before. You end up using humans like canon fodder. It was either total victory or none. There was never ever going to be a negotiated settlement,. unless the south on, in which aystate, they would have been fine with that.
