Unexpected Elements

CHAPTER

The Engineering of the Lasers, the Engineering of the Targets

I've always had a much deeper reverence for engineering than physics, even though I'm a physicist. This is really cutting-edge stuff. And it really excites me because so much work for so many decades has gone into the point where we find ourselves now. Now, that's not to say tomorrow we can get energy out and everything, but what this has done is opened a door to enable us to develop strategy moving forward for it. If we do really want, and we are really serious about not inertial confinement fusion, but inertial fusion energy, what do we need to do to get point A to point B? It all comes down to money.
