The Importance of Obedience to God

The story of Joseph is really key in it. The reader, as they would read this in the ancient world, would understand. There was Joseph, Joseph was a young man sold into slavery who loses his freedom and is seemingly destined for a life of exploitation. But what the story of Joseph tells us is with God and by obeying God, despite the difficult challenges of living faith in a foreign land, a pagan land, Joseph not only survives, he thrives. So Joseph in many ways is the Exodus story but in reverse. In the Exodus story the people leave Egypt to head towards a promised land. Jacob is imprisoned and enslaved in his own family and then goes to Egypt and thrives
