Night of the Living Res by Morgan Talti

Night of the Living Res by Morgan Talti is a collection of connected short stories all narrated by a boy named David who then grows up to be a young man. The first story kind of sets the tone. It's winter and David has left the reservation. And as he is walking back he sees somebody kind of off the path in the woods who looks like he's trying to sit up but he can't sit up. He keeps kind of flopping back down on his back. When David gets closer he realizes it's his best friend and he can't get up because he's fallen asleep and his hair has frozen to the snow.
