What's Good?

The pope's affirmation that penal law is important is really, really, really good. The sort of normativity by which bishops are expected to apply the law is very, very good. We have some concerns about some aspects of this that we think are going to need to be ironed out and meet it out and clarified. But in general, a recognition of the possibility of a much stronger recognition of things like abusing one's office co-worseively is an important development in the church's law.
