Do People Really Care That Much if I'm Around?

i've dealt with people who had to have absolute bloody wars with their family before they would take their, let's say, anti depressent med ation or stop drinking. We're always testing each other to find out how important we are - and we test in pretty damn harsh ways too. It's like, well, do i really need to take this? Do people really care that much if i'm around? And you think, while people won't play a game like that, but they certainly will,. because we wonder, you know, how important we are to each other....
