Alan Raymond Bassett
In 1966, 21-year-old Alan Raymond Bassett was found guilty of the rape and murder of Carolyn Orphan. The evening of the crime, Bassett had met Orphan at a dance and offered her a ride home. He used this as an opportunity to attack; he killed Orphan about a year and a half after the Wanda Beach murders. Following the trial, Bassett underwent a psychiatric evaluation and was found to have schizophrenic tendencies. So, he was sent to Morissette Psychiatric Hospital in New South Wales where he spent time for the criminally insane.
