The Disadvantages of St. Thomas
G.K. Chesterton says he was once in a bookstore and saw someone reading a book, a volume of St. Thomas,. He closed it, frowned and said, if that's God's simplicity, I don't know anything about his complexity. So the irony is that God is only simple. There's no complexity to God. Yes. But this is one of the great insights that I wanted to ask. Wasn't there some controversy around St. Thomas' teaching? His teaching was suppressed at certain moments in respect to Aristotelian philosophy. That kind of generosity, we might call it even a kind of charity of love for the truth, wherever it is.
