Theodosius and the Death of Anastasia
Theodosius did not leave a successor. That seems to me to be a massive black mark against him in an otherwise pretty successful right. But then I realized there's so many East Roman emperors who also don't provide for the succession. We can go through a long, long list of emperors who are child-less old men and don't make any provision for the succession and die. And then people just have to make it up, kind of figure out.
