Calamas, You Shouldn't Trust Anything
The Buddha says, well, don't go by the fact that someone appears to be a completely competent person. So if you're looking for the truth, you can imagine the columns must have been scratching their heads at this point. And then the Buddha tells us, basically he turns around the whole question here at this point and asks how can you know what's good for you? The Buddha isn't really in the business of telling people what to think. It's about what you need to do to reduce ignorance and craving and come closer to true world.
