I love this idea of the secret place novels, these hidden secret worlds that are accessible only to the children. One of the things you do well with this book is the fantastic creeps into our world first. You said that this wasn't something that was easy for you to write. It was more a question that I was very nervous about. And so by having an intrusion of the fantastic into our world before anything else, just a little bit, it gives you a free song.
