The Impact of Collective Violence on the Ancient World
The god on the cross affected that entire reval evaluation of the ancient world. The pagan idea of casting off your impurities or sins maybe not sins in the superlative moral sense that christianity thought of as sin but sin in this sense of hamartia missing the mark. What jesus is is the coming into awareness in the western consciousness of the perspective of the victim and how collective violence against an individual within the group serves as its scapegoat to make one individual suffer for the benefit of the majority.
