Is Richard III a Moron?

Richard III is the low point of these four volumes. He's a moron, but they kept him alive until his son died and then it was off with his head. How much of this play do you think is relevant to the history? We don't know if he killed those boys in the tower. It does make him responsible for that. So it's not quite QED, but it's close.
