As a young, bright, black girl, I was often out of my space. And sometimes people wouldn't know what to do with me in those spaces. What made you want to go to a historically black college? I went and visited. I felt like this weight was lifted. Like I didn't have to do anything. I could just be free. It was this freedom that I didn't feel even at my high school.
