He points out that despite having only one cortigal region devoted to vision, the mouse can actually perform surprisingly complex visual tasks. Hawkins emphasized that the goal of his new theory is not to counter hierarchical approaches, but to introduce the critical role of behavior and the fact that the input the system are constantly changing.
