The Basic Principles of Practical Reason
New natural law theorists believe there are no absolute rules for right and wrong, just whatever in the particular circumstances you're in. We grasp principles of practical reason not by deducing them from facts about the world or facts about human nature considered just as descriptive matters,. But rather by the intellectual act of grasping the point seeing the point of the activity. For example, would it be morally acceptable for me to tell a lie to protect a friend? Now, if the answer to that question is no, which i believe it is no., we mustn’t lie even to protect the reputation of a friend. That means that simply noting that friendship is a basic human good doesn't resolve the question
