Steely Dan: My First Musical Memory
Steely Dan was my first musical memory and my first musical love. My parents had very few records and among the records that existed at home, it was the entire Steely Dan catalog. And I think around the same time that I started being like, what's going on here on Tales from Topographic Oceans, I'm going to unfold this bad boy eight times and figure out what's happening. It wasn't some kind of authentic rejection of this. It just came from a sort of like, Oh, that's, that's the smooth music in the same way that you were sort of not supposed to like frog rock.
