The History of Lakish

Lakish was a large and rich royal city protected by massive fortifications. It was dominated by egyptian pharaohs who subjugated canaan for long periods. We know that this great city was destroyed during the twelfth century b c e. Nearest to lakish were the philistines. Lakish was left abandoned for two centuries. After this, things are a little bit mysterious.
