Is America a Trust Society or a Belief Society?

There does seem to be legitimate reasons why many people in america distrust elites and distrust the media. How much do you think, from a historical spective perspective of what has happened in other countries in the past, how much does that alienation feed into what we're seeing to day? I mean, i think we what's happened is that we're switching from being a trust society to a belief society. It's either yes or no. It's bynary, you're with me, you're against me.
