The Prerequisite for a Recession
Elphinstone: For a recession to happen, you basically need some sort of external trick or a shock. Now that we've had at least a couple of quarters of very conservative risk taking, it's just tricky to surprise people on the downside,. Spurring risk-averse decision-making among managers, et cetera. So maybe this is what we need to get that recession that everybody has been waiting for.
