"These are real people you know they're not sort of characters in a story," she says. "They were real people living real lives and that's kind of partly that's what I wanted the book to be all about really" She was tough as old boots and brutal in lots of ways, but also willing to use whatever tool she had at her disposal."I mean when you see it from her point of view you really admire and so someone like Councillor Derby to see her in action standing alone holding the Isle of Man", he adds.
