In China, if someone passed away recently, they will people will burn money at that time. Or the, you know, for the passing and they will also sometimes honor them every single year on the same day. You'll see circles when I walk in the morning, chalk circles with like something that has been burned. That is because they're a loved one must have passed away recently or it's to mark like one year since that they've passed. And so that's why foreigners in China will see oftentimes see these large piers of burning Joss paper.
