There's a difference to be made between warranted and unwarranted conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories often reveal themselves to be unbelievable, but it often takes a while before that becomes apparent. A lot of it comes back to how conspiratorial do you take the world to be? I mean, there's a philosopher who likes to argue that basically we're all conspiracy theorists because we all believe in conspiracies going on everywhere.
