The Battle of Uligstater

Snorri Sturlsson was in exile with King Hawcon during the 1238 Battle of Uligstater. Snorri's brother Sigvater and his son Sturla were on a collision course with Gissur Thorvaldsson who had formed an alliance with Holben Ungi Arnossen. The two armies would meet at the battle which saw them defeat, kill and imprison each other. It was after this battle that Snorri asked to return to Iceland but King Hawcon denied him passage fearing he may be about rally Icelanders against himself or for his father-in-law Duke Skulliborsson.
