Selling US Treasuries Will Fight Inflation
The Japanese government intervened to try to protect them from a recession, and instead they got something much worse. Instead of just slow growth, they have inflation. One solution is that the Japanese could sell their $1.3 trillion of US treasuries. That would push up the value of the yen which will help bring down prices for imports. But when Japan throws that punch, it's the US economy that gets knocked out.
