How to Be Responsive to the World Around You
i think that being responsive to the world around you, i think, is a really good quality to have as a scientist. A lot of studies of unanticipated events in the world come from flash bald memories like 9/11 and boston marathon bombings. As your schedule fills up, when you become a faculty member, those projects tend to fall to the bottom of the list. You know, it sometimes squashes a little bit of creativity if you hold yourself to the strictest standards by which journals operate.
