The Story of Elizabeth and Eliza Van Loo

Elizabeth Van Loo was named Postmaster of Richmond in 1775. She used her position to champion the cause of civil rights for African Americans. When Rutherford Hayes was elected president, she was dismissed from her post. Her family's house was investigated and they were questioned but maintained their air of innocence.
