The Last Stanza of Lament for the Old by Dean McNary
Dean McNary took a chance on me so the poem is called lament for the old and I wrote this when I was 20 24 and I'm now 73. It probably touched him and it's really ironic because I'm not three times my age when I wrote that but what happened is I then took that year off and I went to something called the a place called the Meninger Foundation which is still around in Pika, Kansas after World War II there weren't that many psychiatric training programs after WWII. There I discovered that you know I seem to be able to connect with these schizophrenic farm boys in Topeka, Kansas where I grew up in a suburb of Boston.
