I think personal relationships matter and making them feel important and valued. One of the chapters in my book was a fascinating look at the mid-career program at the famous John F Kennedy School at Harvard. In that same class are undercover CIA agents who are there using their foreign cover as you know political officer at an embassy or whatever might be. That gives an opportunity for the American intelligence to get to know and buddy up to up and coming influencers in other countries and then use those contacts later on. It's the great game for sure isn't it yes?
